COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Seven-foot center Zisis Sarikopoulos has transferred from UAB to Ohio State, Buckeyes coach Thad Matta announced Thursday.
Sarikopoulos, a native of Greece, must sit out the 2008-09 season to satisfy NCAA transfer rules and will have three seasons of eligibility remaining.
Sarikopoulos played in 20 games at UAB last season, averaging 1.8 points and 1.1 rebounds.
The Buckeyes lost freshman center Kosta Koufos to the NBA draft.

The Utah Jazz on Thursday signed center Kosta Koufos, their first-round pick in last month's draft.
Under terms of the rookie salary scale, Koufos will make $941,000 in the first year of his deal.
Selected 23rd overall out of Ohio State, the 7-foot Koufos averaged 14.4 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.8 blocks in his only collegiate season.
Koufos will join the Jazz summer league team and participate in the Rocky Mountain Revue, which takes place from July 18-25.

The Ohio State men's lacrosse team will join the ECAC Lacrosse League for the 2009-10 season, ECAC Commissioner Rudy Keeling announced Wednesday.
