The 2009 football season for the drugs without a prescription target=”_blank”>Ohio State Buckeyes is one of intrigue. The Buckeyes return eleven starters to a team that won its fourth consecutive Big Ten Championship in 2008. The intrigue comes from the players replacing the senior class of 2008. The Buckeyes will take the field with a much faster group than the 2008 version.

The key areas that will be affected by the departed and the areas to watch are the offensive line, linebackers, and wide receivers. This team will have a much different look than the 2008 squad, and even though the senior class of 2008 was highly successful on the field, that doesn’t mean this group can’t represent an enhanced version of the Ohio State football tradition.

Week 1: September 5, 2009; Navy Midshipmen

The Navy Midshipmen will arrive in Columbus to do battle with the Buckeyes in week one. The Midshipmen return eleven starters (four offensive starters and seven defensive starters) to a team that went 8-5 and earned a trip to the Eagle Bank Bowl.

Offensively, Ricky Dobbs looks to be the starting quarterback for Navy and is the leading returning rusher for the Navy ground attack with 495 yards in 2008. The strength of the option will be the right side of the offensive line where right guard Curtis Bass and right tackle Matt Molloy are deployed.

Slot back Bobby Doyle is the only other Navy rusher returning with more than 100 yards in 2008. Doyle was used primarily as a blocker in 2008.

Defensively, Navy will offer a good test for the Buckeye offense. Returning seven starters, this group gave up an average of 22 points per game in 2008, which is 14 points better than the previous year when they allowed 36 points per game.

Navy’s defensive line returns all three starters and looks to be the anchor of the defense. The group will be led by Nate Frazier. Frazier had 44 tackles and nine tackles for loss in 2008. Navy’s concern will lie mostly in its secondary where the combined group of defensive backs only has 32 games between them.

Prediction
Ohio State will be tested early both offensively in the ground game and defensively against the run. The key for the Buckeyes will be their advantage to rotate eight deep on both their offensive and defensive lines.

Terrelle Pryor and the Buckeye receivers should enjoy some big plays and the new quicker version of the Buckeye defense will shut down the option threat by Navy.

Ohio State 37 Navy 10

Week 2: September 12, 2009; USC Trojans

Pete Carroll has directed the USC program back to prominence. No team in college football has enjoyed more success than the Trojans since Carroll took over in 2001…..
