Columbus- Illinois coach Bruce Weber claimed to have Ohio State's zone defense figured out a year ago, though the Illini lost to the Buckeyes twice while shooting 37 percent.
But the payoff from a special zone offense Illinois installed for the second game against Ohio State last season showed up Sunday in a 70-68 men's college basketball victory over the Buckeyes that sent Ohio State's NCAA Tournament hopes into free fall.
"We're reacting to everything. There's ... Read More

The No. 16-ranked University of Wisconsin wrestling team fell to buy cheap drugs No. 6 Ohio State 24-18 Sunday in their last dual meet of the season.
The result wasn’t one the Badgers were looking for on Senior Day as the meet was their last dual at the Field House this year and their last competition before the Big Ten Championships.

COLUMBUS -- Ohio State's NCAA Tournament hopes are getting shaky, and the Buckeyes likely need three more wins -- either by going 2-2 in the regular season and winning a Big Ten Tournament game or by going 3-1 in the regular season -- to avoid the NIT.
They are dangerously in the middle of a mishmash of BCS conference contenders after losing to Illinois on Sunday. The Buckeyes, at 17-8 and 7-7 in the Big Ten, ... Read More

College wrestling's match of the year will have to wait.
A potential showdown between Ohio State's Mike Pucillo and Northwestern's Jake Herbert didn't materialize Friday night in the name of strategy, but it worked out for the No. 6 Buckeyes, who defeated the No. 19 Wildcats, 23-18, in Evanston, Ill.
Pucillo, a Strongsville native, was 14-0, ranked No. 2 in the country at 184 pounds and the defending national champion. Herbert was 24-0, ranked No. 1 in ... Read More

By: Michael Pointer (IndyStar.com) -- Reece Humphrey continued a family tradition by attending Ohio State.
But don't suggest those familial ties gave the Buckeyes an edge when they were recruiting the three-time state wrestling champion out of Lawrence North High School several years ago.
"It really didn't have an effect on me," said Humphrey, who also considered Michigan and Oklahoma. "Really, I was just going to go where it most helped me be the best."
That turned out to be Ohio State, where Humphrey followed ... Read More

There is something a little different about Reid Fragel.
It isn't his 6-foot-8 frame, which is relatively standard for a tight end recruit coming to Ohio State. It's the fact that he is from that state up north, and will be crossing enemy lines to play for the Buckeyes next fall.
"Initially I got some flak for choosing Ohio State, but after a while it was just accepted," Fragel said.
Fragel and wide receiver James Jackson will be the only ... Read More

Adam Rittenberg, the Big Ten football blogger for ESPN.com, has spent the past week listing the four people of each of the programs that more or less defined the team. Here's who he picked for Ohio State:
1. Woody Hayes
The coaching icon will always be the face of Ohio State football. He won five national championships and 13 Big Ten titles in 28 years on the sidelines at Ohio State. The fiery Hayes went 205-61-10 as Buckeyes coach ... Read More

Indianapolis- Personal rehabilitation for Alex Boone began shortly after his latest bout with alcohol on Super Bowl Sunday. He's seeing a counselor again.
His career rehabilitation begins here.
Symbolically, perhaps, Boone was the first player of more than 300 attending the NFL scouting combine to face the media Thursday.
It didn't take long for Boone to realize his problems are now an open book. Ques tions about drinking and his falling draft stock came from every corner ... Read More

For the first time this season, I thought Ohio State sophomore Evan Turner crossed the line Wednesday of what are acceptable turnovers that the Buckeyes can live with. As the main guy creating offense for himself and the rest of the team, he earns some wiggle room for mistakes. But his season-high eight turnovers in the loss to Northwestern was too much.
Today, he said there was a reason why.
"The other night, I just kind of took ... Read More
