From: OrlandoSentinel.com –Florida seemed most likely to end up in the Gator Bowl despite the outcome of Saturday’s game vs. FSU. But after the loss, the Gators seem like a virtual lock to go to Jacksonville.

Tennessee was the only other team on the board from the SEC that would have been attractive to the selection committee. But the Vols lost to Kentucky on Saturday, ending a 26-game win streak, and did not qualify for a bowl.

That leaves Vanderbilt as the other SEC team that was on the Gator Bowl board, and for obvious reasons Florida would be a  better pick.

“Obviously, we’d love to have the Gators,” said Gator Bowl president Rick Catlett. “I think they’re going to be on our board when it’s time to select.”

The Chick-fil-A Bowl had been considering Florida and said the Gators needed to finish 7-5 to be in the discussion. But it eliminated them from consideration even before Saturday’s loss, likely because they needed to come back to beat Furman and didn’t look good in that game.

That leaves the Gator Bowl as the only real likely destination. Catlett said the bowl would like a Florida-Ohio State matchup, one which draws more intrigue with former UF coach Urban Meyer expected to accept the Buckeyes’ head coaching job soon……
