An 83-19 record and one national buy prescription drugs with no prescription championship in eight years coaching football at Ohio State.
Prior to that, a 135-57-2 record in 15 years at Youngstown State, including four Division I-AA national titles.
That’s what Jim Tressel, the Ohio State football coach, has done. It’s enough to have a book written about him.
Marietta Times sports editor Ron Johnston writes a review of the book “More Than A Coach,” written about Tressel by David Lee Morgan, Jr. of the Akron Beacon Journal.
(Note: The book signing session at a Borders in Columbus, referred to by Johnston, was on Friday afternoon)
Writes Johnston:
First of all, even if you’re not a Buckeyes football fan, it’s a must-read. Tressel, the coolest-looking collegiate head football coach on the sideline in America (just love those vest sweaters), has influenced and inspired numerous people, on and off the field.Several individuals, including former players and coaches, have been interviewed for the book. Some, like A.J. Hawk, Anthony Gonzalez, Chris “Beanie” Wells, and Troy Smith, have gone on to compete in the National Football League. But many are now teachers, coaches, athletic directors, and professional people, who have achieved success way beyond the gridiron.
