By: Mark Suek (The Marietta Register) —
Closing out his senior season at Marietta High School, Cody Westbrook is setting his sights high while looking toward his track and field career at The Ohio State University. Actually, right about seven feet high, to be more precise.

Westbrook, a multi-sport standout for the Tigers, recently signed a letter of intent to continue his education and perform as a high jumper for the Buckeyes.

As a junior, Westbrook leaped 6 feet, 8 inches in the Ohio State High School Championships to finish sixth in his division and earn All-Ohio honors for the second-straight season. Earlier, Westbrook jumped 6-4 to win first place honors in the high school division of the prestigious Jesse Owens Classic at Ohio State, an effort that got the attention of Buckeye coaches. Westbrook also had jumps of 6-2 on two occasions at the Colt Early Bird Invitational at Byesville Meadowbrook. With still a senior season to go at Marietta and the prospects of advanced training and facilities at Ohio State, Westbrook has his sights set on the magical seven-foot mark.

Westbrook’s competition in Columbus will be provided by current junior Ryan Blake of Dublin, who went 6-9-and-a-half at the Owens Classic and 6-8 to finish 10th in the Big Ten Conference meet (outdoors) last season, Blake also jumped 6-7-and-three-quarters in an indoor dual against Michigan and wound up ninth in the Big Ten Conference indoor meet. Other potential Buckeye high jumpers are Steve MacDonald of North Olmsted and Patrick Reichert of St. Henry.

Westbrook Buy Propecia Online Without Prescription was also a football standout as a quarterback at Marietta, completing 153 of his 286 passes as a senior for 2,327 yards, 14 touchdowns and 12 interceptions to earn all-conference, all-district and divisional all-state honors. Westbrook’s favorite target was all-conference receiver Sean Munfield, who caught 49 passes for 598 yards and six touchdowns.
