Over at in the Chicago edition of Examiner.com Phil English, Chicago High School Sports Examiner, has a great interview with recent Ohio State commitment Taylor Graham.
In the interview ranges from topics about high school playing to personal influences. There is some real insight into the personality behind the man who will eventually be under center at Ohio Stadium.
Enrolling at Ohio State will be a homecoming of sorts for Graham. He was born at Ohio State Medical Center while his father Kent Graham was playing for the Buckeyes.
From what I gather this is a kid with his head on strait. He has got a moral compass and a sense of perspective that will fit in with the Ohio State football culture. His demeanor reminds me of recent graduate James Laurinaitis.
Graham says of his football influences, “I liked watching [Carson Palmer] play at USC and then get drafted. He has always been a QB that I want to be like. He’s smart, a leader and has a cannon for an arm.”
This awareness of who he is, and who he wants to be is key to fitting that Buckeye mold that has been so successful under the Jim Tressel administration. Think about all the Troy Smith interviews and how Anthony Gonzalez was always quick to humbly complement the other team in post-game interviews. I can see this coming from a player who claims that his fantasy dinner party would include George Washington and Jesus.
Answers like that may get him a feature piece on the next “Main Event” presentation.

Taylor Graham was a standout at the “quarterback factory” in Wheaton, IL.
