By: Greg Kozarik (Examiner.com) – A championship game, two divisions, a new school, four new head coaches, plenty of new players and of course a scandal that rocked the college football universe are just a bit of what happened to the Big Ten over the past six months. Now as the college football season is about to kickoff, the Big Ten conference is ready to start a new chapter in the conference’s long history.
The addition of the Nebraska Cornhuskers this season made Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany and his staff come to the conclusion that two divisions were needed and a Big Ten championship, just like most conferences.
“It just adds to the cache of the conference,” former Northwestern star and current Big Ten Network analyst Chris Martin said. “It will be awesome. As a former player, what more could you ask for than a championship being decided on the field.” ……
