The Ohio State 2009-10 basketball schedule will feature a game against defending national champion North Carolina at Madison Square Garden and an 18-game Big Ten slate.

The Buckeyes and North Carolina will meet on Nov. 19 in New York as part of the Coaches vs, Cancer Tournament. Ohio State will play another marquee game as the tournament continues the next night in New York, facing either California or Syracuse.

Ohio State tied for fourth with a 10-8 record in last year’s Big Ten regular season standings and finished 22-11 overall. The Buckeyes have won two Big Ten titles in five seasons with Thad Matta as their coach. They lost to Florida in the 2007 national championship game.

In the Big Ten’s rotating schedule, Ohio State will play everyone twice except for Michigan State – which the Buckeyes will not play on the road – and Northwestern – which they will not play in Columbus.

The Buckeyes return everyone from last season’s roster except for backup center B.J. Mullens, who left Ohio State after his freshman season and was a first-round draft choice of the NBA’s Oklahoma City Thunder. Guard David Lighty is back after missing most of last season with a broken foot and University of Alabama-Birmingham transfer Zisis Sarikopoulos, a 7-0 center, will make his Ohio State debut.
