STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) — Penn State has finalized its 2009 football schedule, which includes visits from Big Ten rivals Iowa, Minnesota and Ohio State.

The Nov. 7 meeting against the Buckeyes will be the 300th game in the 49-year history of Beaver Stadium.
Penn State will visit conference foes Illinois, Northwestern, Michigan and Michigan State.

But the Nittany Lions have a relatively weak nonconference slate, starting with the season opener Sept. 5 versus Akron.

Syracuse, Temple and FCS school Eastern Illinois will also visit Happy Valley.

Penn State figures to be one of the favorites again in the Big Ten, though the strength of schedule could factor into whether the Nittany Lions are serious national title contenders.
