From: MansfieldNewsJournal.com — ASHLAND — Ohio State football coach Jim Tressel will receive the Ashland University Gridiron Club 2010 Sportsman of the Year Award and be the featured speaker at a dinner on Wednesday at AU’s John C. Myers Convocation Center.
This is the second consecutive year the Gridiron Club has had this fundraiser. Illinois football coach Ron Zook, a Loudonville native, was last year’s honoree.
Proceeds from the dinner online drugs no prescription will be used to support the football program and athletic facilities on campus.
The evening will begin with a reception for Tressel and a silent auction at 6 p.m., followed by the dinner and program from 7:15 to 9 p.m. in Myers Convocation Center.
Tickets are $75 each and a reserved table of 10 is available for $695. There is also an opportunity for people to sponsor an AU football player to attend the dinner at a cost of $35 each.
Tressel has been head coach at Ohio State since 2001. His record with the Buckeyes is 83-19. He has guided the Buckeyes to eight bowl appearances, including five Bowl Championship Series games, six 10-win seasons, five straight Big Ten championships, six consecutive wins over archrival Michigan and a 2002 national championship.
Prior to Ohio State, Tressel was the head coach for 15 seasons at Youngstown State, guiding the Penguins to five Division I-AA national championships. He was also the director of athletics at YSU.
