CHICAGO — Ohio State football coach Jim Tressel doesn’t expect Michigan to be down long after its 3-9 season. He thinks “they’ll be just fine.”
“Anyone’s that’s every been involved in a transition, for 365 days, every day is a new day, every adjustment you have to make and every relationship you have to build, it’s hard,” he said at today’s Big Ten media days. “Transitions are hard. We were 7-5 our first year, and every day was a challenge just to get to know one another and have a feel for one another in all of those things. I wouldn’t worry … about Michigan being on their feet; they’ll be just fine.”
Does he think U-M’s fall plays into the negative national perception of the Big Ten?
“I suppose people from outside the conference could say that,” he said. “If you stepped back and thought about it, we’re not the only conference that’s had transitions in teams. Take Alabama, for instance, which is dear to some people’s hearts. They had a moment of transition in there and all of the sudden, they’re rolling. That happens in every league. Michigan’s going to hold up their end of the bargain.”
