Padua junior Kaitlyn Leary visited Notre Dame, Tennessee, Miami (Ohio) and Michigan, but when Ohio State made the 6-0 outside hitter an offer, she gave the Buckeyes volleyball program her oral commitment.

“It was a very hard decision,” said Leary, a Parma resident. “I enjoyed all my visits, purchase drugs online but I’ve always been a big Buckeyes fan. Whether it’s football, basketball or volleyball, I love the Buckeyes.”

Leary, a PrepVolleyball.com All-American and Plain Dealer All-Star, accounted for 400 kills, 217 digs, 23 block kills and 96 service points in leading the Bruins to their first Division II state championship last fall.
While on her visit to OSU, Leary was hosted by Katie Dull and Allie Schwartzwalder, former standouts at Walsh Jesuit and North Royalton, respectively.

“I’ve always played against them in Junior Olympic tournaments but I got a chance to really get to know them,” Leary said. “They made me feel comfortable, like it’s the right fit. And I really do feel it’s the right fit.”
