Cleveland, Ohio – St. Ignatius senior linebackers Scott McVey and Jake Ryan sat next to each other this afternoon as both signed their National Letters of Intent, but to rival Big Ten schools — McVey to Ohio State and Ryan to Michigan.
“I haven’t placed any bets with Jake so far on the Ohio State-Michigan game but I’m sure they’ll be coming around,” said McVey. “We haven’t talked much about it but I’m sure once we’re in college, we’ll be talking to each other quite a bit.”
McVey was thrilled to hear Ryan accepted the Wolverines’ scholarship offer.
“Scott deserved an offer like that,” said McVey, “and I’m excited at the fact we’ll be playing against each other. Too bad he’s doesn’t play offense, but maybe we’ll face each other on special teams.”
Ryan’s respect for McVey is mutual.
“It was an honor to play with Scott and those four years were just great,” said Ryan, a Westlake resident. “I was there for him when he got hurt and he’s always been there for me.”
McVey was the first player to tell everyone about Cheap Viagra pills Ryan becoming a Wolverine.
“Just the idea of playing against him every year in that rivalry game will be unreal,” said Ryan. “I can’t wait.”
McVey tore his labrum during the season-opening win over Glenville but played through the pain after sitting out three games.
“Physical therapy, rehab is going great and my shoulder is feeling awesome,” said McVey, “and I’m ahead of schedule.”
Ahead enough to see action for the Buckeyes as a true freshman?
“[OSU] hasn’t said anything about the injury pushing me back any but I’m sure if it’s making an effect on me, they might consider redshirting me,” said McVey, a Lyndhurst resident. “I’m going down there with the mindset of trying to get on the field any way I can.”
