BY MIKE CLARK (suntimes.com) -- 1. Ohio State: The Buckeyes can’t play in the Big Ten championship game or a bowl this season, thanks to the fallout from the scandal that led to Jim Tressel’s forced departure. But new coach Urban Meyer still recruited the conference’s best class, including Glenbard West DT Tommy Schutt, and they’ll be ready for the postseason in 2013.
2. Michigan: Second-year coach Brady Hoke has another exceptional class, one that’s just behind ... Read More

By Doug Lesmerises (The Plain Dealer) -- COLUMBUS, Ohio -- When football recruits at Ohio State sign their National Letters of Intent Wednesday, they should have greater guarantees about their future than ever before in the modern era of college sports.
Buckeyes, as well as players at most -- if not all -- Big Ten schools and some other programs around the country, are signing four-year scholarships instead of renewable one-year scholarships, as has been the standard. ... Read More

COLUMBUS -- Lenzelle Smith Jr. is listed as a guard on Ohio State's roster.
It's because jack-of-all-trades, as his coach likes to call him, isn't a recognized position on the floor. The 6-foot-4 sophomore is basketball's version of a utility infielder, a roundball handyman who sees a problem and fixes it.
Against Indiana, he became a knock down 3-point shooter, hitting 4 of 5 from the arc and finishing with 28 points.
Against Michigan, he turned ... Read More

COLUMBUS — Not long after No. 3 Ohio State hung a 64-49 shiner on No. 20 Michigan on Sunday, coach Thad Matta was asked how pleased he was to reach the midpoint of the Big Ten season with at least a share of the lead.
“It beats second, I do know that,” he said.
Trouble is, the Buckeyes (19-3, 7-2) know that most of their work is ahead of them.
All of their remaining nine games will be ... Read More

From: HuskerExtra.com -- Ohio State, with all its football tradition, is just two hours down the road from Greg McMullen's hometown of Akron.
The Horseshoe. Ohio State vs. Michigan. A bunch of Big Ten championships.
Ohio State was the first program to offer a scholarship to McMullen, a four-star defensive end who moves surprisingly well for someone who is 6-foot-5 and 250 pounds. McMullen was only a sophomore and Jim Tressel was still coach when the offer came.
McMullen came to Lincoln for a football ... Read More

By Michael Sedor (PennLive.com) -- Another day, another Scout.com 4- or 5-star recruit for Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer. The latest blue chipper to commit to Columbus is elite defensive back Armani Reeves.
Reeves is the eighth top recruit since Meyer's hire to pledge their future to the former Florida head man. Included in this impressive array are fellow one-time Penn State targets Tommy Schutt, Noah Spence, Joey O'Connor and Camren Williams.
The Buckeyes now have 23 commits and rank ... Read More

By Myron Medcalf (ESPN.com) -- Unlike last season’s squad, Ohio State encountered a few unexpected hurdles once Big Ten play commenced late last month. The Buckeyes lost to both Illinois and Indiana on the road in the first few weeks of the Big Ten slate.
Those losses prompted questions about Ohio State’s anticipated dominance in the deep league. The Buckeyes have proven some doubters wrong, however, during their current four-game winning streak.
Thad Matta wasn’t surprised by his team’s ... Read More

Fans of both Ohio State and Michigan have been anticipating the decision of four-star DB Armani Reeves. On Sunday night, Reeves made the call via Twitter on his college future.
The West Roxbury (Mass.) Catholic Memorial four-star Armani Reeves is the man that Michigan’s coaches were pursuing, but just could not secure.
Reeves was committed to Penn State throughout the fall, but the turmoil in Happy Valley led him to re-open his recruitment. The 5-10, 185-pound corner has excellent skills in ... Read More

By: Andy Glockner (SI.com) -- The curious case of the Ohio State Buckeyes continued on Sunday when they slowly and methodically pulled away from a solid Michigan team to win 64-49 at home. Lacking much drama or many signature moments, it's the latest in a long string of comprehensive performances that will draw a collective "ho hum" from the masses. Instead, it should be considered the latest piece of evidence that the Buckeyes are one of the ... Read More

By: AP via stltoday.com --Minneapolis -- Rachel Banham scored 20 points and made three 3-pointers, helping Minnesota take down No. 9 Ohio State 76-68 on Sunday.
Kiara Buford added 15 points and seven assists for the Golden Gophers (12-11, 4-5 Big Ten), who beat a ranked team for the first time in nearly three years. They did it by dominating the post, outscoring the Buckeyes 36-20 in the paint with Katie Loberg and Micaella Riche taking it to the young.....
