By: Tom Dienhart via btn.com -- Clemson’s Dabo Swinney is a genius–at least when it comes to spicing up spring football games. Let’s face it: These spring “games” often are little more than glorified scrimmages to appease and tease fans. The interest? Minimal—aside from the true cognoscenti.
Many coaches don’t like them, preferring to run a scrimmage or just conduct another practice for fear of injury. Lack of depth is another reason many coaches don’t like intrasquad scrimmages, as it often makes it ... Read More

By: Andy Evans via thelantern.com -- It only took two minutes into Tuesday’s Big Ten teleconference for the Big Ten’s first representative, Michigan coach Brady Hoke, to receive his first question about the arrival of Ohio State’s new coach Urban Meyer and his thoughts on how Meyer will affect the rivalry.
“Obviously you’ve got two storied programs who have a lot of great tradition and, as far as I know, it’s never been about the coaches, it’s always been about those two schools,” ... Read More

By Doug Lesmerises via The Plain Dealer -- In a Sporting News story published Monday on Ohio State coach Urban Meyer's tenure at Florida, the program Meyer left winds up sounding a lot like the program he inherited. And none of that should be of particular surprise.
The only problem is for anyone viewing Meyer above or below the spectrum of successful major college football coaches, for good or bad. He's no more a saint or a sinner than most two-time national championship ... Read More

By: Matt Hayes via sportingnews.com -- The uproar and controversy of Urban Meyer’s stunning recruiting coup at Ohio State settled in and Stefon Diggs, still on the Buckeyes' wish list, was debating his future.
Diggs, the second-highest rated wide receiver in the country, had narrowed his list of potential schools to Maryland, Florida and Ohio State. For more than a week following National Signing Day on Feb. 1, and before Diggs eventually signed with Maryland, Meyer relentlessly pursued Diggs.

By Richard Langford via bleacherreport.com -- The Big Ten has a new king. It is the Ohio State Buckeyes, and with Urban Meyer flexing his recruiting prowess, it is just a matter of time before this team lays claim to its throne.
Meyer has wasted no time making an impact. He didn't take over as coach until November of last year, but that didn't stop him from signing a 2012 recruiting class that ESPN ranked as the nation's sixth best.

NEW ORLEANS – The December doldrums are not the same as March Madness.
Luckily for Ohio State, which lost at Kansas 78-67 on Dec. 10 in what cannot be considered a prelude to their national semfinal matchup Saturday at the Final Four.
“It was our first loss of the season,” Ohio State coach Thad Matta said. “I think of it more in terms of how that game prepared us with what we had to deal with going into the rigors of ... Read More

By: AP via greenfieldreporter.com -- NEW ORLEANS — The season was spiraling away, the players didn't seem to care and Thad Matta had had enough.
So, as he watched his team stumble lackadaisically through practice on the eve of a big game, the Ohio State coach snapped. Stop, day's over, head home, he told them.
Not so fast, coach.
Led by William Buford, the team's lone senior, the Buckeyes pushed back, decided to finish practice on their own.
"I didn't let us leave," Buford said Thursday. ... Read More

BOSTON – On paper, it's a huge advantage for Syracuse.
The Orange have been touted as one of the deepest teams in the country all season, with a host of scoring options. On the other hand, Ohio State hasn't relied much on its bench this season, and has basically been a four-man team of Jared Sullinger, William Buford, Aaron Craft and DeShaun Thomas.
If the Sweet 16 win over Cincinnati is any indication, though, Ohio State's supporting cast will play a major ... Read More
