From: ESPN.com -- Late-season inconsistency dropped Ohio State to a lower seed than expected in the NCAA tournament, but the 16th-ranked Buckeyes are hoping to use what they're calling "disrespect" as additional motivation.
Eighth-seeded Ohio State faces off with No. 9 seed Florida on Sunday in Bowling Green, Ohio.
The Buckeyes (25-6) won their first 15 games and 20 of 21, but settled for a four-way tie for second place in the Big Ten after splitting their final eight regular-season games. They lost to ... Read More

From: Cleveland.com -- CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Urban Meyer grew up in Ashtabula and is now back in Ohio, preparing for his first season as the Ohio State Buckeyes head football coach.
Most coaches make a few stops along the way, and that includes Meyer, who has coached as far away as Utah (2003-04).
Before being hired by Ohio State, Meyer's previous coaching job was with the Florida Gators from 2005-10. He led Florida to national championships in the 2006 and 2008 seasons.

By Wes O'Donnell (BleacherReport.com) -- Urban Meyer and the Ohio State Buckeyes won't be competing for BCS Championship in 2012. Even if they weren't banned from postseason play, they still wouldn't be playing for the title next year.
Coach Meyer's vaunted offensive scheme is not picked up overnight. His success with Alex Smith and Tim Tebow took some time. The quarterbacks, as Meyer himself noted, were not without elite playmakers either (via the Ozone.com):

By Adam Rittenberg (ESPN.com) -- As many know by now, Ohio State couldn't land recruiting target Stefon Diggs, who on Friday ended a drawn-out and moderately annoying decision-making process by choosing to stay home and play for Maryland.
Ohio State had saved a roster spot for Diggs, rated as the nation's No. 3 athlete and No. 13 overall prospect by ESPN Recruiting. The thought is that Diggs, who played both running back and wide receiver in high school and ... Read More

COLUMBUS — Not long after No. 3 Ohio State hung a 64-49 shiner on No. 20 Michigan on Sunday, coach Thad Matta was asked how pleased he was to reach the midpoint of the Big Ten season with at least a share of the lead.
“It beats second, I do know that,” he said.
Trouble is, the Buckeyes (19-3, 7-2) know that most of their work is ahead of them.
All of their remaining nine games will be ... Read More

From: HuskerExtra.com -- Ohio State, with all its football tradition, is just two hours down the road from Greg McMullen's hometown of Akron.
The Horseshoe. Ohio State vs. Michigan. A bunch of Big Ten championships.
Ohio State was the first program to offer a scholarship to McMullen, a four-star defensive end who moves surprisingly well for someone who is 6-foot-5 and 250 pounds. McMullen was only a sophomore and Jim Tressel was still coach when the offer came.
McMullen came to Lincoln for a football ... Read More

By Michael Chung (BleacherReport.com) -- It was November 20, 2011. Ohio State had been marred in a recruiting "crisis of confidence." The once-prominent B1G team, who had a fence around Ohio, was lacking in star power from their home state, let alone nationally.
Bill Kurelic believed Ohio State was not in the top 20 nationally.
But things have changed and have changed in a hurry. The number one player in the state of Ohio, Adolphus Washington, committed to play ... Read More

By: Jeff Bell (BizJournals.com) -- Not even the misdeeds of Jim Tressel, Terrelle Pryor and company could keep the turnstiles from humming at Ohio Stadium this past season as the Buckeyes posted a slight increase in attendance.
A new analysis by SportsBusiness Journal, a sister publication of Columbus Business First, shows Ohio State had average home-game attendance of 105,231, up 0.05 percent from 2010. That means an extra 53 fans per game were sandwiched into the ’Shoe during a season ... Read More

Urban Meyer, who picked up his master's degree in 1988 from Ohio State, has coached all over the country — as a head coach at Bowling Green, Utah and Florida, and also at Illinois State, Colorado State and Notre Dame.
But he's finally working where he picked up a diploma — and where he gets $4 million ... Read More
