M&T Bank Stadium will host a clash between Ohio State University, an annual college football powerhouse, and the Naval Academy on Labor Day weekend 2014.
The game, a home contest for the Midshipmen and season opener for both teams, is the latest move by the Baltimore Ravens to bring high-profile sporting events to the 71,000-seat stadium. Ohio State fans tend to travel in packs — with as many as 30,000 heading to road games, Ravens executives say.

Ohio Stadium is about as imposing a structure for a visiting college football team as there is.
Built during the Warren G. Harding administration, the horseshoe-shaped grand gray lady holds 105,000, nearly all of whom root rabidly for one of the most successful college football programs in the country.
And next week, Ohio State defensive lineman and St. Francis graduate Doug Worthington will enter that field for the last time.

What exactly does Brandon Saine need to do?
He has all the physical tools of a great running back. He's 6'1", 217 lbs and is lightning fast, running the 40 in 4.27 seconds. He has game-breaking speed and the strength to carry the pile. And have you seen him as a receiver?
He was the most impressive rusher in the season opener against Navy averaging 5.9 yards on nine carries. The next week against USC, he was rewarded with just ... Read More

Believe it or not, the 2009 OSU Football season is at the midway point and you know what that means? It’s time for some mid-season reflection on the 2009 Buckeyes.
Terrelle Pryor.......
After six games in the 2009 season, Terrelle Pryor has shown absolutely zero growth this year. Looking back to 2008, his throwing mechanics have looked better in 2009 and he has demonstrated the ability to throw the ball with more zip. However, he has not demonstrated the ... Read More

Dangling dreadlocks aside, it’s Duron Carter’s smile and candor that always seem to attract a crowd.
The 18-year-old wide receiver has been thrown into the fire in the first five games of his freshman campaign, but insists it’s nothing he can’t handle.
“I sat the bench one time in my sophomore year of high school, and I hated it,” he said. “I felt like coming in, I needed to get into the game, and [receivers’] coach [Darrell] Hazell has put ... Read More

By: MATT MARKEY (ToledoBlade.com) -- COLUMBUS - Ohio State had a mini galaxy of stars on its defense last year, but when five starters departed from that group and landed in NFL training camps, it appeared that a somewhat major rebuild might be in order. But four games into the 2009 season, the Buckeyes don't look much like a reconstructed unit. Ohio State's defense has hung a couple of goose eggs on the scoreboard with recent shutout wins over Illinois and Toledo ... Read More

At the start of the 2009 season, all eyes were on Terrelle Pryor and how his freakish, athletic talent would be the gun Ohio State coach Jim Tressel would use to fire the bullets in a dynamic OSU offense.
So far this season, the only thing that has been firing bullets is the Ohio State defense, and they’re shooting “Silver Bullets” everywhere.
This “no name” group that is lacking the front line starter that we have seen in seasons past ... Read More

This story is going to do things you didn't think possible. It will compliment Ohio State football coach Jim Tressel in a way that insults the OSU football program. It will compliment Southern California in a way that insults USC coach Pete Carroll.
How is that possible? It just is. Trust ... Read More

By: Chris Dufresne (LATimes.com) -- It's fourth down at midfield and what the millionaire coach decides before the play clock runs out -- punt, pass, kick? -- could win the game or ultimately cost him the national title and/or his job.
Either way the call will get cut up like a biology-lab frog by 24-hour cable, sportswriters with community college degrees and Monday morning quarterback clubs.
So you want to be a head coach?
Last weekend was a clinic for poise -- and perhaps a ... Read More

Jim Tressel doesn't believe his offense needs to change.
Tressel always tweaks his system to fit his personnel, but when I tried to ask about considering a shift in philosophy - maybe away from his plan to win the field position battle and rely on his special teams in an offense that is less wide-open than other systems - he said he wasn't going to change to Navy's triple option or anything like that.
Eventually, he basically said ... Read More

By: AP via SI.com -- OLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- With a growing chorus of fans questioning his playcalling and others doubting his ability to win a big game, Jim Tressel was asked if his honeymoon as Ohio State's head coach was over.
"You felt like it's been a nine-year honeymoon?" he repeated on Tuesday. "You must not have liked your honeymoon."
For the first time in his tenure in Columbus, Tressel is catching fire from all directions in the wake of Saturday night's 18-15 ... Read More

Columbus- Ohio State's offensive line was looking crisp, quick and more confident, OSU coach Jim Tressel thought as the Buckeyes were preparing for Navy. That's not quite where they are now.
With the USC game two days away, the Buckeyes have a line on which left guard Justin Boren was the only one to receive a winning performance grade as the coaches evaluated their efforts in the opener. And some simple things tripped up a line that ... Read More

With about six minutes left in Saturday's game in Ohio Stadium, Ohio State failed to convert a fourth-and-two inside the Navy red zone. Ten seconds later, a 29-14 game became 29-21.
It was a shocking meltdown that ended in LB Brian Rolle's two-point conversion return to make the final score 31-27 Buckeyes.
The stunned Buckeye faithful now have lost all faith that their team can beat the mighty Trojans this Saturday. Even the oddsmakers agree, making Ohio State an underdog ... Read More
