COLUMBUS, Ohio - Everywhere he goes, the eyes are on him.
He would stand out anywhere because he stands 6-foot-6, a willowy athlete's body replete with tattoos. But in a city of more than 750,000 football-mad people, in a state that reveres its Buckeyes and particularly the guy who directs the Ohio State offense, no one takes their eyes off Terrelle Pryor.
When he goes out, he wears dark sunglasses to avoid the swarms of Buckeyes fans.
"I try ... Read More

When a reference such as “the chosen one” is made, Ohio sports fans immediately start looking for Lebron James. In 2007, many high school football talent evaluators spoke in the same reverence when discussing football greatness regarding a young high school quarterback from Jeannette, PA. That’s a tremendous amount of pressure to live up to when you’re eighteen years old, yet Terrelle Pryor has done just that. Now at the ripe old age of twenty, the only ... Read More

CHICAGO -- Ohio State senior tight end Jake Ballard didn't have to search for the subtle signs showing Terrelle Pryor's growth as a leader this summer.
Pryor made it plainly obvious during 7-on-7 workouts.
If a Buckeyes receiver dropped a pass, Pryor let him have it.
"If you drop one or two balls, he's going to try and get you out of there and put somebody else in," Ballard said. "If it hit your hands, he's going to take ... Read More

This is a subject that has been weighing on my mind for some time now. It is an awful subject, one filled with the ugliness and torment. This subject is not pretty in any way, and is not meant Cipro to be so. However, it is necessary to talk about the Ohio State Offensive line.
College football is all about the quarterback. Think about it, Reggie Bush was the last non quarterback to win the Heisman, but in ... Read More

The unofficial kickoff of Ohio State’s football season for me begins Monday at the Big Ten’s annual preseason football media preview in Chicago.
The first day of the event brings all the Big Ten coaches to the microphone for some questions. Here are some topics a few of those coaches might be questioned about:
Ohio State’s Jim Tressel: Why can’t the Big Ten win the big games against national powers?
Michigan’s Rich Rodriguez: How long is Michigan going to remain patient ... Read More

Champions are built differently than the rest of us.
Their drive, determination, and competitiveness are leaps and bounds above that of the average human being. So much so that at times we cannot relate to them, and neither they to us.
However, these qualities that the champions possess are what enthralls us, their fans, into studying every aspect of their being. And though we might not understand them, we at least would like to try.
That's why ... Read More

As the nation's top-rated prospect in the Class of 2008 ? not to mention one of the most highly sought-after recruits in recent history ? Pryor literally had his pick of any program in college football, the majority of which were ready to put their present and future in the hands of a freshman.
The 6-foot-6 quarterback would have stepped in from day one as the savior of the program. He would have started every game ... Read More

Walking through the local mall here in the Columbus suburbs today and I saw the new Ohio State jerseys for the first time.
Each year, there are five or six numbers put out before the season, representing the best guess at the Buckeyes the fans are most interested in. Last year, it was Beanie Wells (28), James Laurinaitis (33), Malcolm Jenkins (2), Brian Robiskie (80), Todd Boeckman (17) and Marcus Freeman (1).
As the year went ... Read More

Safety Kurt Coleman, defensive tackle Doug Worthington and tight end Jake Ballard, all seniors, were announced today as the representatives for the Buckeyes at the Big Ten media days on July 27 and 28 in Chicago.
And I'm guessing those will be three of your four captains for Ohio State in the fall.
The guys who are trusted by Jim Tressel to sit in suits at round tables and field several hours of questions from reporters typically fare ... Read More

Former Buckeye quarterback Todd Boeckman, who was an All-Big Ten pick in 2007 before losing his job to Terrelle Pryor during last season, is getting a shot in the NFL.
He has signed as a free agent with the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to his Beachwood-based agent, Neil Cornrich. Boeckman earlier had a tryout with Cincinnati but didn't sign with the Bengals.
Jacksonville previously signed former Buckeye defensive tackle Nader Abdallah in May after he also went undrafted, but ... Read More
