As the Big Ten slate kicks off Saturday, Ohio State will look to join Michigan as the only school to win four or more straight Big Ten crowns on multiple occasions. The Buckeyes shared the crown with Penn State in 2005 before ending the 2006 and 2007 seasons alone atop the standings to compile a Big Ten mark of 22-2 over the last three years.

To Gophers fans hoping for an upset victory over 13th-ranked Ohio State now that the University of Minnesota football team is 4-0, Tim Brewster says hold on a minute.
The Gophers, who dominated Florida Atlantic 37-3 on Saturday at the Metrodome, have shown they are much improved from a year ago when they went 1-11, but they still have a ways to go to reach Ohio State's level.
"We wanted to be a 4-0 football team at this ... Read More

Columbus- This was their plan, Mike Brewster snapping, Terrelle Pryor taking it from there, two friends from Ohio State's 2008 recruiting class at the heart of the Buckeyes' offense.
"We didn't come here just to sit around and watch games," Brewster said Saturday. "We knew this day was going to come, but we probably didn't think it was going to come in the fourth game, let alone pretty much the whole game. It's pretty surreal."

We're one month in and what do we know?
We know the Gophers football team has improved, especially on defense. We know the team is more confident, more aggressive, more successful.
But how much more?
The Big Ten has taken a few lumps the past month. Michigan is struggling to go from its traditional power game to Rich Rodriguez's spread offense. Ohio State struggled with two mid-major teams and got squished by Southern California.

A 28-10 win over Troy made Ohio State wiggle just a bit in the two major polls.
The Buckeyes moved up from No. 14 to No. 13 in the coaches poll, but dropped from No. 13 to No. 14 in the AP poll.
In the coaches poll, the Buckeyes were jumped by Penn State but moved past Oregon and Auburn, which both lost.
In the AP poll, the Buckeyes were jumped by Penn State and BYU but moved past Auburn.

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany stuck up for his league a week after another lopsided loss in a big game by Ohio State.
The Buckeyes may have flopped last week against top-ranked Southern California, but that doesn't mean the Big Ten is down, Delany said. He cited conference victories in other high-profile games, such as Big Ten wins over Southeastern Conference squads in non-BCS bowl games.

Prior to the season starting, I scanned all the schedules looking for opportunity.
And I found Troy.
This weekend's game against Ohio State -- even before Beanie Wells was declared out and the Buckeyes were unsettled at quarterback -- seemed like an opportunity for Troy to capitalize on an Ohio State team that would no doubt be down after a crushing loss to USC.
What started as a theory in the infinite wisdom of August could be a reality as ... Read More

COLUMBUS, Ohio - What's brewing today with the 2008 Ohio State Buckeyes ...
BUCKEYES BUZZ: Teams can go a variety of directions after a lopsided loss. Just look at Ohio State over the past few years.
In 2004, the Buckeyes climbed to No. 7 in the rankings heading into their Big Ten opener at Northwestern. They had won 28 of their last 30 games and were expected to squish the Wildcats.
But then Northwestern hung a 33-27 overtime loss on ... Read More

Hope, even false hope, might be a welcome respite for some Ohio State fans right now.
We're not of the belief that Troy will beat the Buckeyes on Saturday, though we could see a little scare for a bit, but is this the start of Ohio State's road back to a third national title game?
Doubtful. Let's adjust that. No.
That's the premise here.
Is it possible that a one-loss team ranked No. 13 after the third week of season could ... Read More

Democratic vice presidential nominee Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., spent the past two days trying to win over Ohio voters, but he may have undermined that work in one quick dis of the Ohio State Buckeyes football team Friday morning.
Before boarding his flight from Wilmington, Del., to Washington, D.C., the loquacious Blue Hen displayed some Fightin' Blue Hen alumni bravado in an impromptu airport meeting with the University of Delaware football team.
"I was out in Ohio," he said, ... Read More

I. Be a "Wiseman"—don't play your star in a blowout just to win the "Heisman."
It's the third quarter, and you're blowing out a I-AA school. Your leader/star on your offense (maybe the whole team) has already scored his signature 43-yard TD and has rushed for 111 yards.
Time to start thinking Ohio (and a little bit of USC). Let's give the freshmen/backups some playing time to get their feet wet.
That's what most coaches would be thinking...except Jim Tressel.

Columbus -- He didn't get there. Bottom line. He didn't get there.
Kurt Coleman stood seven yards from the line of scrimmage at the snap when he started to sprint at USC quarterback Mark Sanchez on Saturday night. The safety's failed blitz set off a chain reaction that left OSU linebacker Marcus Freeman tailing USC fullback Stanley Havili down the sideline as the Trojans hit on their first touchdown pass during their 35-3 romp ... COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Just what reeling Ohio State needed -- another bunch of confident Trojans.
After getting lashed by top-ranked Southern California 35-3, Ohio State has a huge task ahead just rebuilding its battered confidence.
Troy, the 13th-ranked Buckeyes' opponent on Saturday, doesn't have that problem.
"I've seen the highlights of it," Troy linebacker Bear Woods said Monday, referring to USC's nationally televised landslide victory over the Buckeyes on Saturday night. "USC held them to one and a half yards ... Read More
