Training camp for Ohio State football is coming soon in Columbus, with the new freshmen adding to what many believe to be a stacked roster.
One of these new players is a wide receiver with Buckeye bloodlines in Duron Carter.
The son of legendary Buckeye and potential NFL hall of famer Cris Carter, Duron comes to Columbus as one of the fastest rising prospects of the Class of 2009 prior to National Signing Day.
Carter hails from Florida powerhouse St. Thomas ... Read More

The Scarlett and Grey have been getting overlooked and have begun to be tainted with overrated chants over the past couple seasons. Indeed the Buckeyes have faltered when being put in the national spotlight.
Some wonder if Jim Tressel is caving. Others speculate that the talent is not as talented as the other elite teams in college football.
The Buckeyes will have a much different look coming into this season.
With the multi-talented Terrelle Pryor calling the shots for ... Read More

“The next couple of years, we have a couple of guys who can go out and make some dents in the pro game. It would be nice to send guys to a Grand Slam with OSU T-shirts on. How good would that be …?” - TY TUCKER
By: DAVE WEIDIG (ZanesvilleTimesRecorder.com) --
A team from a cold-weather state making the NCAA championship match in Division I tennis?
It shouldn't be a surprise that it happened under Coach Ty Tucker's watch. Since the Zanesville High School state champion and Ohio State All-American took over the Buckeyes' program 10 years ago, it has been on the fast track to the top.
That's despite the fact, as Tucker says, "80 percent of the best players in the United States come from Florida, Texas and California, ... Read More

When you go bowling on a Friday night, it's dark. That's part of the fun of Friday night bowling.
Unfortunately, it makes it more difficult to conduct interviews during this dark bowling time.
But how can you pass up the chance to talk with Miss Ohio, Erica Gelhaus, or Mr. Sack, Ohio State defensive end Thaddeus Gibson?
Both took part in the charity bowling event for the Special Olympics organized by Buckeye Jim Cordle in Lancaster on Friday ... Read More

Quarterbacks, quarterbacks, quarterbacks.
Every football coach always is interested in quarterbacks, and Ohio State is no exception.
Even with Terrelle Pryor now at the controls of the Buckeye offense for the next two years at least, that hasn't stopped coach Jim Tressel from looking at some other notable QBs as possible Buckeye recruits.
In the last week, OSU apparently has gone 1-1 in landing potential Class of 2010 quarterbacks. First, Joe Montana's son Nick spurned the Buckeyes among several other elite ... Read More

“There are times when I’m like, this is overwhelming. But I think it’s smart to not try and rush it. So I think I’m doing the right thing.” — Jordan Hicks
By: Doug Lesmerises (Cleveland Plain Dealer) --
Columbus - The best high school linebacker prospect in Ohio was surrounded by hundreds of peers Friday at Ohio State. Jordan Hicks wasn't taking part in the Buckeyes' one-day camp for advanced prospects, but he was still getting some of the greatest attention.
Having narrowed his college choices to Ohio State, Florida, USC, Texas, Georgia and Alabama, the 220-pounder from Lakota West High School near Dayton is looking for a comfortable fit, and he spent his day ... Read More

During spring quarter, Ohio State offensive lineman Jim Cordle worked out and went to spring football practice, and also took four classes and earned a 3.75 GPA. But his hardest work was on display Friday night.
The charity bowling tournament Cordle planned in his hometown of Lancaster raised more than $18,000 for the county Special Olympics and provided one of the most interactive Buckeye experience for fans that I've seen.
With all 42 lanes in operation and ... Read More

If dues-paying was an official NCAA statistic, Austin Spitler would be among the national leaders.
Few players have remained on the runway as long as Spitler, waiting for their careers to truly take flight. He redshirted at Ohio State in 2005 and watched as James Laurinaitis stepped into a featured role following two key injuries at linebacker. For the next three years, Spitler backed up Laurinaitis, who became arguably the most decorated linebacker in Ohio State history.
Laurinaitis ... Read More

Keep an eye on these three Buckeyes newcomers entering the season.
OFFENSE -- Duron Carter, WR, Fr.
Ohio State loses its top two wide receivers, and though several dynamic players are waiting to step in, Carter should get a chance to contribute right away. The son of former Buckeyes star wideout Cris Carter was ranked as the nation's 18th best wideout by ESPN's Scouts Inc. and will give Terrelle Pryor a big target at 6-foot-3, 185 pounds. He might lack ... Read More
