From: FanHouse.com - Amir Williams was one of the few 2011 big-name recruits who remained unsigned. No more, as he’s been snatched up by Thad Matta’s Ohio State Buckeyes.

Williams is a 6-foot-10, 220-pound center from Detroit County Day High School. He averaged 14.7 points and 10 rebounds last season as a junior. He’s ranked as the second-best center in the class by ESPNU and Scout.com, seventh by Rivals.com. Scout and ESPN have him pegged as a top-40 overall talent, while Rivals ranks him down at 73rd nationally. So, worst-case scenario, the people who study recruiting have him as a top-10 center and top-75 player. Best-case, he’s the second-best center in his class.

“I’m feeling pretty good right now,” Williams told the Detroit News. “I just felt comfortable with everything they were telling me at Ohio State. I felt comfortable with the players and the coaching staff. They’ve been successful in sending a lot of good players to the pros and I hope to get the NBA one day.”

When Williams joins the Buckeyes, he’ll join an impressive group of young talent. The Buckeyes’ 2010 class, led by star center Jared Sullinger, was included in the top three of many class rankings and the signing of Williams makes the 2011 class a consensus top-10 group.
