Less than 24 hours before he was expected to fax his Letter of Intent to Ohio State last Wednesday on signing day, Buckeyes recruit Chris Carter was arrested for allegedly fondling up to eight girls at his high school.

A week later, the matter has abruptly been dropped.

According to the Columbus Dispatch, Carter will not face charges of misdemeanor sexual imposition stemming from the multiple incidents that allegedly occurred at his Cleveland’s John F. Kennedy High School.

Cleveland spokeswoman Maureen Harper said today that the city prosecutor’s office concluded its investigation Friday, and “after a full review, there was not enough evidence of sexual contact to charge Mr. Carter with a crime.”

Carter had been accused of fondling several girls at his school as he measured them for ROTC uniforms.

Carter never faxed his LOI to Ohio State, but the school did hold a spot for him, so it’s reasonable to assume that, with no charges pending, Carter will be free to sign with the Buckeyes.
