By: MATT MARKEY (Toledo Blade) — COLUMBUS – Ohio State coach Jim Tressel said his team will be without captain and leading tackler Ross Homan for the next couple of weeks.
The senior linebacker was injured in the first half of Saturday’s loss at Wisconsin, and did not return to the game.
Tressel said Homan injured his foot. Despite missing most of the game against the Badgers that cost Ohio State the No. 1 ranking and a share of first place in the Big Ten, Homan still leads the Buckeyes with 41 total tackles, and also has a sack, an interception and a fumble recovery.
As Ohio State (6-1, 2-1) prepares to host Purdue (4-2, 2-0), Tressel said his team is still smarting from the disappointing loss in Madison.
“If it didn’t hurt, you’d be disappointed,” Tressel said Tuesday at his weekly news conference. “What is really the measure of the person is how they deal with that adversity.”
