By: Eric Ball (BleacherReport.com) — Jared Sullinger has chance to be a one-and-done champion for the Ohio State Buckeyes. The Naismith finalist is on the right track to be the top pick in the 2011 NBA Draft.
What a ride it has been for the best freshman since Kevin Durant.
Sullinger has been everything the Buckeyes could have hoped for and more this season. He scores 17 points a game by a combination of savvy low-post moves and a knack for drawing fouls.
He grabs 10 rebounds a game because of his instincts on knowing where the ball will fall off the rim. He is fundamentally sound, well coached and highly skilled…a killer combo.
He shoots over 54 percent and even connects on 70 percent of his free throws.
ESPN NBA Draft guru Chad Ford thinks that Sullinger is the complete package:
“Sullinger has been the most productive freshman in the country. He’s a monster in the paint — both as a scorer and rebounder. He has long arms, boasts a very high basketball IQ and will surprise you with his play on the perimeter.”
The fact that he is 6’9 does hurt him a bit, but you don’t have to be…..
