By: Zac Jackson (FoxSportsOhio.com) — Urban Meyer is officially the head football coach at Ohio State. He has been in Columbus since Sunday night and was introduced Monday evening.
Below is a timeline of what we know Meyer has done, what he will be tackling imminently and the most important tasks that will continue through December and into the spring:
Last Sunday night, Meyer met for three hours with current coach Luke Fickell. They met again Monday morning, and Ohio State’s official announcement of Meyer included the announcement that Fickell will coach the team in its bowl game and remain on staff under Meyer. His exact role remains undetermined.
Monday afternoon, Meyer met with his new players. Monday night, based on what Meyer said at the press conference and a few tweets, Meyer was making calls to recruits and prospective coaches. Meyer has relationships with some Ohio school coaches from his past, and though Ohio State has prospects verbally committed in the class of 2012, there is no early signing period in football. Nothing is official until signing day in February……
