Jim Tressel Is Not Garnering Much Support From Ex Ohio State Football Players
It is not a good time to be wearing a sweater vest.
Jim Tressel is in hot water with the NCAA and in danger of losing his head coaching position with the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Now famous alum with media platforms are voicing their displeasure. Former QB Kirk Herbstreit is probably the alum that America sees more than any other former Buckeye on a constant basis. He is one of the lead commentators for ESPN and is a fixture from September to January.
Here is what he had to say about the situation according to collegefootballtalk:
The Ohio State fan base is blindly just supporting Ohio State and Jim Tressel. It’s almost gotten to the point where he beat Michigan, he wins 10 games, he goes to BCS bowl games and they’ll support him no matter what he does as far as the fan base. If this would have happened to John Cooper, not only would they have fired him, they would have actually lined him up at a firing squad and fired him.
Hard to disagree. Tressel has been extremely successful with the Buckeyes and has earned a long leash that Cooper could only dream of.
Former running back Robert Smith told the Detroit Free Press that the information discovered would have to lead to his dismissal.
