Jim Tressel leaving Ohio State football was a big rumor last night and it came from a blog called ChicagoNow.
And it sent people questioning if it was actually true.
The rumors don’t make a lot of sense when you look at the grand scheme of things and how the events played out after the report hit the Internet.
Here is why it doesn’t make sense, and if you have any thoughts on this rumor, make sure to let it be known in the comments.
If this rumor were true, there would at least be some inkling that he was considering leaving.
This isn’t like Urban Meyer, where there were whispers and incidents in the past that would lead you to believe that he might possibly be considering leaving the program at some point. Tressel is a huge part of that program and he’s synonymous with Ohio State football.
It would have been way out of left field had he left.
The one thing that Tressel has done since he’s come to Ohio State is win.
He’s won a national championship and kept the Buckeyes playing in high-profile games throughout his tenure, and he rarely struggles as coach of Ohio State. It would make no sense for him to leave the program at its height.
There’s no reason for him to leave or for the program to want him gone……..
