Ohio State’s seniors leave with legacy of success

By: Sean Jackson (Examiner.com) -

Playing football at Ohio State is a tremendous opportunity filled with highs and lows. For 24 seniors, last night’s win over Arkansas marked the culmination of the four-year journey. What a legacy they leave behind.

Consider what each of these seniors contributed to in their four years as Buckeyes:

  • A 44-8 record, which ties for the most wins in school history.
  • They won at least a share of four Big Ten titles.
  • They beat Michigan four times.
  • They were instrumental in helping the Buckeyes win two consecutive BCS bowls.

During this time, they encountered problems both on the field and off, and were able to find ways to overcome adversity. This group’s leadership helped Ohio State turned the corner and never look back.

While names such as Cam Heyward and Dane Sanzenbacher will be remembered in Buckeye lore, all of the 24 seniors had a hand in this team. Whether it was on the field, in the locker room, in the classroom or in the community, they did a terrific job being good role models for this team.

It has been a privilege covering this group and I wish them nothing but the best.
