The Buckeyes play their first conference game at Illinois on October 2. The Big Ten announced the kickoff time is 12:00 and it will air on the Big Ten Network.

The Buckeyes have had a tough time playing in Champaign. In 2008, Ohio State came away with a 30-20 win. In 2006, they beat the Illini 17-10. Finally, almost all Buckeye fans remember the 2002 nail biter, where Ohio State escaped with a 23-16 win in overtime.

Will history repeat itself this season?

It’s highly doubtful. Illinois is a few years from being back to contender form. Their passing game is non-existent and their strength on offense, rushing, is something Ohio State is very capable of stopping. Still, if history is any indication they may provide Ohio State an interesting challenge in the Buckeyes’ first road test of the year.
