Brenden was just a 15-year-old sophomore at Fisher Catholic High School in Lancaster when melanoma cancer took him from our lives in December 2007. In just four short months from being diagnosed, he was gone. You may ask, what does Coach Tressel have to do with Brenden? The answer is a lot.
One night while Coach Tressel and his wife were having dinner in Lancaster with a local couple, the topic of Brenden came up and how sad it was that a vibrant young man was fighting for his life at The James Cancer Research Center. After dinner, Coach Tressel and his wife, Ellen, went straight to the hospital to meet Brenden, quite unannounced to Brenden and his parents, without any fanfare or attention to themselves. Nobody asked Coach Tressel or his wife, Ellen, to visit Brenden and his family; they did it because that is the type of people they are……

Coach Tressel will forever live in the hearts of the residents of the great State of Ohio. Its very sad what happened to the Tressel Legacy but all good men face great obstacles. I am looking forward to one shaking Coach T’s hand and just saying “Thank You, Sir.”
