The 2011 Sugar Bowl winners have quite an interesting week in front of them.
The “Tattoo Five”, the five juniors suspended for the first five games of the 2011 season for selling jerseys and such, will have to decide if playing in The Horseshoe is for them next season.
While they apparently “pledged” to coach Tressel that they would return, it could certainly go in the opposite direction quickly.
Four of the five suspended players start for the Buckeyes including star quarterback Terrelle Pryor, who is a draft-worthy project at the NFL level, and wide receiver DeVier Posey, who could find his way into the third round area.
Five games out of a 13 game season leaves only about one half of the year left for players looking to boost their draft stock and there is no guarantees going into a new season.
Aside from the five juniors whose fates will still be decided, about half of the Buckeye starters will not be on the roster next season following graduation.
The Buckeyes certainly have a worthy recruiting class coming through, including quarterback Braxton Miller, but Tressel will have to get the youngsters acclimated quickly as the Buckeyes schedule does not offer many easy games next season, with or without Pryor and company.
