The Ohio State Buckeyes finished the season ranked No. 1, and they then proceeded to win the Big Ten tourney, ultimately earning themselves the top overall seed in the NCAA Tournament. And in their 75-46 thrashing of Texas-San Antonio on Friday, the Buckeyes definitely looked like the team to beat.
William Buford, Jon Diebler, and Jared Sullinger combined for 43 of the Buckeyes’ 75 points. The team as a whole shot a 56.9 percent from the field, which included 12-of-24 from three.
At one point, the Buckeyes led by as many as 38 points, and it seemed as if they were playing a home game in Quicken Loans Arena, which is a short drive from Columbus.
Because the Roadrunners were never really able to amount much of a threat, head coach Thad Matta was able to gives his starters plenty of rest, which should give them an advantage over a George Mason team that took things down to the wire against Villanova earlier today.
