This spring the Buckeyes have something they haven’t had for a while, a quarterback competition. With Terrelle Pryor serving a five game suspension to start the season it opens a window for someone to step up.
This is will be interesting for several reasons. For one, whomever they choose to fill this spot will have to build the offense at the beginning of the season. This is a crucial stretch where they will want to build momentum. They also want to think big picture. With Pryor coming back for the Nebraska game, they’ll want to have the offense in place for him to step in and operate.
Here is a look at their options.
Kenny Guiton had an impressive spring last season. He is a dual-threat quarterback with a lot of potential. His skills would be a natural fit for Ohio State’s offense.
On the other hand, Braxton Miller may give him a good fight. Braxton enrolled in school early and is busy taking part in workouts. He could make an instant impact if he can pick up the system quickly. Jim Tressel has shown he doesn’t have any problems starting a freshman quarterback.
Joe Bauserman has the most experience of the group. He is traditional drop back passer with a strong arm. He may have the most to prove so it will be interesting to see how he performs in the off-season.
In addition, Taylor Graham and Justin Siems have had a year in the system and could make some progress on the depth chart…..
