Sports 10 has learned that former Terre Haute South baseball standout Jacob Hayes is transferring from Ohio State to Indiana State.
Hayes told Sports 10 that he informed ISU head baseball coach Rick Heller on Tuesday morning that he was verbally committing to play for the Sycamores.
With Hayes transferring from one division one school to another, he will have to sit the 2012 season, but then will have three years of eligibility at ISU.

The punishment reported by The Columbus Dispatch is part of the school's response to NCAA charges that players received impermissible benefits in exchange for memorabilia and coach Jim Tressel lied about his knowledge of those violations.

The NCAA granted the extension because of the proximity to the Fourth of July holiday. Ohio State plans to publicly release its response on July 11, spokesman Dan Wallenberg said.
