BY MATT MARKEY (Toledo Blade) -- COLUMBUS -- For most of the last couple months, they have been tucked away in the bunker, sequestered and protected from the expected barrage of prickly questions as a scandal rampaged and the Ohio State football program teetered toward implosion.
They continued to meet, to work out, and make preparations for the 2011 season, but they operated cloaked in secrecy, as much like a cloistered convent as an elite college team.

By: Jon Spencer (MansfieldNewsJournal.com) -- Someday, college athletes throughout America, at least at the well-off schools, may be thanking disgraced Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor. Even at Ohio State.
It's no coincidence that talk of extra compensation for athletes or giving actual "cost of attendance" scholarships has intensified in the wake of the tattoos and cash-for-memorabilia scandal involving Pryor and five other Buckeyes.
The ongoing turmoil has already cost coach Jim Tressel his job, hastened Pryor's departure ... Read More

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State lost more than two regular-season games just twice in Jim Tressel's 10 seasons in Columbus -- during his first season in 2001 and in the transition year of 2004 that helped lead to the undefeated regular season of 2006.
In the final part of a three-part series of 12 questions about Ohio State football, the big picture is examined, and the guess is that it will include ... Read More

By: David P Funk (BTPowerhouse.com) -- During Thad Matta's tenure at Ohio State, the Buckeyes have been no stranger to the national recruiting rankings.
Unfortunately for the rest of the Big Ten, 2011 won't be any different. Rivals ranks OSU's five-player class no. 10 in the country. ESPN has the Bucks no. 6 and Scout has them at no. 8.
"Matta and his coaching staff have done a tremendous job when it comes to recruiting," Matt Barker from Buckeye Banter said. "They ... Read More

By: Zac Jackson (FoxSportsOhio.com) -- COLUMBUS, Ohio – We've known since December that Ohio State was going to need a new quarterback for the start of the 2011 season.

Three is more than two. So why waste time shooting anything but three-pointers?
That seems to be the philosophy of Jon Diebler, and it has worked out very well for him. Over the course of his four-year career at Ohio State, Diebler shot 1109 field goals, a whopping 900 of which were from beyond the arc. Four out of every five shots that he took at OSU were three-pointers.
Out of those 900 attempts, 3bler (rhymes with Diebler) ... Read More

By: Ben Axelrod (TheLantern.com) -- After securing what Thad Matta called the biggest recruit he's ever gone after, the Ohio State basketball program introduced former Buckeye player and NBA coach Chris Jent as the latest addition to the OSU's coaching staff on Wednesday.
A native of Sparta, N.J., Jent scored 1,007 career points and was a part of two Big Ten championship teams at OSU from 1988-92. He will fill the opening on Matta's staff that was created ... Read More

He was born at Ohio State Hospital, became the only 2-time winner of the Heisman while playing for the Buckeyes, then returned to his alma mater and now serves as the President of its Alumni Association.
And he believes Ohio State will bounce back from its recent scandal involving its football program that resulted in quarterback Terrelle Pryor and coach Jim Tressel leaving the ... Read More

By: Bob Fortuna (Cleveland Plain Dealer) -- CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Ohio State offered Devan Bogard a football scholarship last fall but the Glenville linebacker felt, at the time, he needed to weigh all his options.
However, the senior-to-be couldn't let his longtime dream slip away, so the 6-0, 183-pounder gave the Buckeyes his oral commitment Saturday afternoon.
"It's where I've always wanted to play and it's where I want to be," said Bogard, who picked OSU over Illinois, ... Read More
