By: Matt Hayes (SportingNews.com) -- Take a moment to breathe this in: Previously unbeaten Michigan State, utterly exposed in a rout of a loss at Iowa, is a lock for 11 wins and a piece of its first Big Ten championship in two decades.
Forget what that means about the Big Ten, and understand that the best championship race in college football is in the storied league’s last season without a championship game.
Four teams—Michigan State, Wisconsin, Iowa and Ohio State—could all win the ... Read More

It came four seconds after the game ended, while the Hurricanes were celebrating victory. If it were a blatant penalty in a big game, a flag would have been thrown immediately.
Miami fans agree it was a bad call. Ohio State fans rationalize that the referees missed a call earlier in the ... Read More

Nebraska's in. So where do the Cornhuskers fit?
Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany said there were three factors that would determine how the 12-team conference breaks into two six-team divisions for the 2011 season. He's got people working on it. Here's a suggestion, following the three Delany factors: competitive balance, rivalries and geography.
Here's my reasoning:

With the Huskers being one of possibly a handful of teams about to join the Big Ten Conference, one thing that is being largely overlooked is the effect this process has on the rivalries in the conference.
The most specific of these might be the greatest rivalry in college football if not sports: Ohio ... Read More
