The NCAA's deadline to withdraw from the NBA draft was pushed up five weeks from its usual spot in mid-June. Thus, so too was our post-deadline top 25.
This is what we know about the 2010-11 season: There won't be a truly great team.
Sound familiar? It was true last season.
And because of that, Duke has a chance to repeat as national champions. Not losing anyone early to the NBA draft after winning a national ... Read More

The 2010-11 Big Ten bowl lineup is now set, with the Insight Bowl moving up in the pecking order and three new games -- Gator, Texas, Dallas Football Classic -- coming aboard. A ton of things can happen between now and Sept. 2, but there's no harm in taking a look at which teams likely will be packing their bags in late December or early January, and which teams will be staying home.

ST. LOUIS -- Ohio State has one of the best players in the country in Evan Turner. Tennessee has what seems like an endless supply of nasty, stingy defenders.
No secret who's going to win that battle.
Brian Williams scored the go-ahead basket on a tip-in with 32 seconds left, and J.P. Prince was relentless on Turner, blocking a desperation 3-pointer at the buzzer Friday night to lead Tennessee past Ohio State 76-73 and into the NCAA tournament's round of ... Read More

Of the 4.8 million people who filled out brackets on ESPN's NCAA Tournament Challenge, zero were perfect after the first round.
It's really a testament to the balance in this year's tournament. There are no truly great teams in the field, but plenty of really good ones and even more that have flown under the radar on the way to setting up a Sweet 16 that could be a classic.

The Big Ten takes heat whenever its teams take the field or the court. Both football and basketball get criticized for not being flashy enough, especially by the media. Well, the Big Ten says keep your flash, they will keep the wins.
Ohio State, Purdue, and Michigan State are the three remaining Big Ten teams left in the NCAA tournament. These teams were also the Big Ten regular season champions, showing this is no fluke they all have survived. ... Read More

Looking back at David Lighty and ahead to Tennessee:
* Thad Matta can't say enough good things about David Lighty. He may wind up as one of Matta's all-time favorites. He is still peeved that Lighty wasn't on the Big Ten's All-Defensive team, and he talked about what a great job Lighty did Sunday guarding bigger Georgia Tech players after Ohio State's 75-66 win.
"He's the best defender in college basketball," Matta said. "He can guard any position ... Read More

State came into the season without much fanfare, expected to duke it out with the like of Minnesota, Michigan, Wisconsin and Illinois for third place in the Big Ten, behind Michigan State and Purdue. Thanks, in large part, to the spectacular play of Evan Turner, Ohio State finished the season tied for first. And Turner was just getting started. In the conference tournament and in Sunday's second round win over Georgia ... Read More

Brian Bobek was caught a bit off guard when Ohio State made a football scholarship offer about a month ago.
The Fremd junior center knew one of the country's premier college programs doesn't just give out offers to anyone. Bobek was tempted to make his decision right there but then decided to step back and make sure.
On Tuesday morning, Bobek was sure Ohio State was the right place for him as he gave the program a verbal commitment.

By: Matt Snyder (Fanhouse.com) -- Minnesota is going to be sweating it out for the Selection Show. The Golden Gophers made a nice run to the Big Ten championship game, but the Ohio State Buckeyes proved to be too much Sunday, thrashing Minnesota 90-61. The game was close for a half, as Minnesota's Devoe Joseph hit a three-pointer at the first half buzzer to cut the Buckeye lead to three, but Evan Turner simply took the game over in the second half. ... Ohio State (27-7) opened it up in the second half, finally putting away a pesky Minnesota Gopher team 90-61. This is Ohio State’s third Big Ten tournament championship and it was hard earned.
Ohio State hit a 37-foot buzzer beater to beat rival Michigan, then went through a grueling double overtime to finally put away Illinois. It finally met with red-hot Minnesota in the finals, teams desperately needing a win to secure its NCAA berth.

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio State star Evan Turner said Saturday's double-overtime win over Illinois was even better than his 37-foot game-winning shot against Michigan on Friday because this victory was a team struggle. After the 88-81 Big Ten Tournament semifinal win over the Illini, Turner was still seething over the way the teams treated each other.
Turner was visibly angered 30 minutes after the game in the locker room when discussing the talking the Illini did during ... Read More
