For the third time in four years, Buckeye residents will join with Ohio State University alumni and fans to celebrate the football team’s appearance in a Valley bowl game and the town’s connection to the Buckeye State.
“Buckeyes prescription online in Buckeye Day” will be noon to 5 p.m. Saturday in Town Park, Ninth Street and Monroe Avenue in downtown Buckeye.
The 38th annual Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 5 will match the Buckeyes and the University of Texas Longhorns at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale.
Two years ago, more than 1,500 Ohio visitors and area alumni traveled to Buckeye for the celebration.
Gift bags for Ohio State visitors and alumni will include an official town of Buckeye pin, a Buckeye water bottle, a copy of the official proclamation of “Buckeyes in Buckeye Day” signed by Mayor Jackie Meck, a piece of Buckeye chocolate and a history of the Buckeye area.Tours will be available at the nearby Buckeye Valley Museum. The alumni association will be selling Ohio State merchandise.
