Archie Griffin knows Ohio State pretty much better than anyone.
He was born at Ohio State Hospital, became the only 2-time winner of the Heisman while playing for the Buckeyes, then returned to his alma mater and now serves as the President of its Alumni Association.
And he believes Ohio State will bounce back from its recent scandal involving its football program that resulted in quarterback Terrelle Pryor and coach Jim Tressel leaving the school.
“It’s very very tough,” Griffin said during a visit to South Bend where he was speaking at Key Bank’s Gridiron Legends Luncheon Series for the College Football Hall of Fame.
“We’ve taken a black eye with this and it’s been an unfortunate situation. We’ve lost one of the best coaches in the country in regards to this. And that kind of hurts.”
“Ohio State is Ohio State and we are looking to the future. We’re trying to move passed this and move forward. With Luke Fickell as our football coach, that’s what we’re going to try and do. We’re going to get behind coach Fickell, his staff and his team and do the best that we can do.”
