The Razorbacks knocked off LSU and knocked down the door to a BCS bowl in the process.
Now one of the more intriguing bowl matchups could feature two of college football’s best quarterbacks in Arkansas’ Ryan Mallett and Terrelle Pryor of Ohio State.
Mallett completed 13-of-23 passes for 320 yards in Arkansas’ 31-23 win over LSU. It was his ninth 300-yard passing game of the year, and he now has thrown for 3,592 yards and 30 touchdowns, becoming just the fourth quarterback in SEC history to throw for 3,000 yards and 30 touchdowns in consecutive seasons.
Arkansas (10-2) will face an Ohio State (11-1) team that clinched its sixth consecutive conference title. While the Buckeyes are tied for first with Wisconsin and Michigan State, coach Jim Tressel said he thinks his team is “pretty fair” and a top-10 team.
“Sometimes the ball bounces funny and you end up undefeated or you end up losing however many, and our guys just kept working and whatever came their way, they handled it and pressed on and handled adversity and handled success as it came,” Tressel said following his team’s 37-7 win over Michigan.
“They need a little break and they need to take a deep breath and then they need to think about playing against one of the top teams in the nation wherever we play, whoever it is.”
