This is the time of year when dreams come true.
Somebody’s anyway. Besides Dickie V.
Ohio State’s will, too, assuming Jared Sullinger didn’t do anything untoward just to get a tattoo of Mom from a certain Columbus tattoo parlor.
I love Kansas’ depth because Bill Self basically has two of everything. He’s got the 6-9 plus twins in Marcus and Markieff Morris, he’s got a pair of point guards in Tyshawn Taylor and Elijah Johnson, he’s got two great outside shooters in Tyrel Reed and Brady Morningstar, and he wants two titles, one to go with the one his crew won in the Alamodome in 2008.
To me, the Jayhawks are more than capable of cutting down nets in Houston.
I do have a slight concern they don’t always stay as motivated as they were during their emotional Big 12 tournament title game against Texas, but how do you doubt a team that lost only twice all year, once to the Longhorns just hours after the news of the death of frontcourt reserve Thomas Robinson and once on the road against a Kansas State team desperate to salvage its season?
But Kansas has just had too many toe-stubbings against Northern Iowas, Bradleys and Bucknells for me to trust it all the way, which is why I’ve left them out of my Houston four.
The Final Four I want to see, however, has Texas, Brigham Young, Kansas and Princeton. Yeah, Princeton. The program that invented the back-door pass.
I’d love to see the Longhorns fulfill the promise they showed in January and most of February. But I don’t know if they’re back to form or just praying that they’re back. I worry theirs is a fragile confidence, which is why I have them losing to Duke….
