Ohio State officials today submitted a self-report to the NCAA that Head Football Coach Jim Tressel violated provisions of NCAA Bylaw 10.1 when he failed to notify the university about information received involving two football student-athletes.

Sources within the Ohio State athletic department confirmed with The Columbus Dispatch that football coach Jim Tressel has not resigned nor has he been fired.
The newspaper reports that Tressel will continue as coach but may face possible sanctions and/or fines for violating NCAA regulations.
The university has scheduled a press conference for 7pm tonight with OSU president E. Gordon Gee and athletic director Gene Smith, along with Tressel at the Jack Nicklaus Museum on the Ohio State campus.

Ohio State President E. Gordon Gee told The Associated Press, “We have reported a violation, a perceived violation, that we were having discussions with them (the NCAA) about the best way to handle it.”
