The stage has been set.
When the No. 15 Iowa Hawkeyes and No. 10 Ohio State Buckeyes meet inside Ohio Stadium on Saturday, a Big Ten title, as well as a trip to the 2010 Rose Bowl, will be on the line.
The Buckeyes enter the conference battle on a three-game winning streak and an 8-2 overall mark, with both losses coming in single digits to USC and Purdue. But aside from its opening-week 31-27 win over Navy, Ohio State’s ... Read More

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Ohio State tight end Jake Ballard was stunned when he was told that with a win against Iowa on Saturday, the Buckeyes are headed to the Rose Bowl.
Really?
Yep. Less than a month after losing to a Purdue team that had won just one of its first six games, the No. 10 Buckeyes find themselves needing only a win over the 15th-ranked Hawkeyes to start booking flights for Pasadena, Calif.
"No, I had no idea," Ballard ... Read More

By: Adam Rittenberg (ESPN.com) -- Ohio State heads to Penn State on Saturday as the underdog, trying to avoid a loss that would end its run of four consecutive Big Ten titles (won or shared) and four consecutive BCS bowl games.
The Buckeyes are the younger team, the more banged-up team, the team with more question marks and the lower-ranked team. Plus, their Big Ten road win streak is over, snapped in shocking fashion Oct. 17 at Purdue.
But one factor still favors the ... Read More

The question stopped Ohio State coach Jim Tressel in his tracks for a few seconds.
"Have you been asked more questions about Terrelle Pryor than anyone you've ever coached?" someone asked on this week's Big Ten coaches' conference call of Tressel, in his 24th season as a college head coach.
After acknowledging that interest in an offensive lineman isn't as great as with a quarterback, Tressel said Pryor, one of the nation's top high school QBs as a senior at ... Read More

By: Doug Lesmerises (Cleveland Plain Dealer) -- COLUMBUS, Ohio -- At their 25-year reunion, the current Ohio State Buckeyes don't want to be reminiscing about that crazy Wisconsin win -- remember how the offense barely had the ball? -- or the Navy scare or those poundings of Toledo, Illinois and New Mexico State. In 2034, the Penn State Nittany Lions will bore each other if the highlights of their glory days in 2009 center around Temple, Northwestern and Minnesota.

It's hard to believe that the 2009 college football season is nearing its ending so soon. We've seen so many exciting moments this season.
But for the Ohio State Buckeyes, the end means the hardest part of the schedule by far.
The month of November begins with a trip up to Happy Valley to play No. 11 Penn State, then a home game the next week against No. 4 Iowa (using BCS standings). The end isn't much easier, as they ... Read More

By: Doug Lesmerises (Cleveland Plain Dealer) -- COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Capital One Bowl representatives keep hanging around Ohio State. They were there at Purdue when the Buckeyes lost, maybe as happy as the Boilermaker fans. There were there again Saturday, and probably not to watch New Mexico State.
If the Buckeyes come up short of the Rose Bowl, the Capital One Bowl, played on Jan. 1 in Orlando, could be an excellent consolation prize for all involved.

After a stunning loss to Purdue two weeks ago, the Ohio State Buckeyes rebounded with a 38-7 rout of Minnesota.
OSU’s offense finally reappeared after taking the previous week off, while the defense played back up to standards, holding Minnesota scoreless until late in the fourth quarter.
“It was good to get back home for Homecoming,” coach Jim Tressel said Tuesday during his weekly press conference. “It was good to get a victory in the conference and take a step ... Read More

By: Doug Lesmerises (Clevelannd Plain Dealer) -- COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The tailgaters weren't as plentiful at Ohio Stadium last week, the crowd a little later filling the stands.
So as Ohio State started pulling away from Minnesota in the second half, nobody was rooting harder for the Buckeyes than Bill Jones. He's the guy who had tickets to sell for Saturday's game against New Mexico State.
"With the economic climate, and the Purdue loss, you never know what to expect," said Jones, who oversees ... Read More

COLUMBUS —
After standing before his teammates and baring his soul, Terrelle Pryor went out and played his best game of the season. None of it surprised Head Coach Jim Tressel.
Pryor was named the Buckeyes’ offensive player of the week after his 343-yard day against Minnesota. The sophomore quarterback threw for 239 yards and two long touchdown passes to DeVier Posey. He also ran for 104 yards and a score.
That game came on the heels of growing restlessness among ... Read More
