Elements of a recent Columbus Dispatch report about the relationship between Ohio State football players and a local car dealership have been clarified.
An investigation by the newspaper’s staff showed that former Buckeyes linebacker Thaddeus Gibson paid $13,700 for a Chrysler 300C car. A title obtained by the paper late last week indicated the purchase price was $0.
Through further research, the Dispatch discovered an earlier title showing the correct purchase price, which was financed through ... Read More

By: Dan Chalk (OurMidland.com) -- Whatever results from the current allegations of NCAA violations by Ohio State football coach Jim Tressel and his program, you won't see University of Michigan Athletics Director Dave Brandon gloating.
Brandon's been there, and he knows how it feels.
"I know what it's like to receive the papers from the NCAA, a notice of allegations and ultimately of violations. I know what that process is like," Brandon said Monday during a question-and-answer session at an Associated Press Sports Editors ... Read More

During the past Ohio State men's basketball season, a pregame video was played before home games featuring many past Buckeyes, such as Michael Redd, Greg Oden and Evan Turner. One player who was not included was Mike Conley Jr.
The former Buckeye point guard was part of a trio, along with Oden and Daequan Cook, who left OSU after one season following the 2007 NCAA Tournament runner-up campaign. Conley was drafted No. 4 by ... Read More

The tenor of this offseason and lead-in to next season was set in a dismal locker room in Newark, N.J., on March 25.
With his teammates scattered around the room, stoically and in some cases, tearfully, answering questions, Jared Sullinger made his assertion in a clear and strong voice.
"I'm going to be an Ohio State Buckeye next year," the future freshman of the year said minutes after his team was eliminated by Kentucky in the NCAA tournament. ... Read More

Several websites are reporting that the Michigan Wolverines receive two oral commitments today for the class of 2012.
The player, both defensive ends, made their commitments within hours of each other. One of those was Pharaoh Brown of Brush High School in Lyndhurst, Ohio.
Brown told Sam Webb of Scout.com , "I took my mother my sister… my immediate family up to Michigan. I had already seen it but they needed to see it. My mother liked it, ... Read More

By: Duane Long (DuaneLongReport.com) -- I recently posted a blog about coming back home and circling the wagons with recruiting. The Buckeye staff is apparently not ready to do that. There is more evidence out there that the recruiting effort is foundering a bit. The delay by that ridiculous antiquated organization, the NCAA, is showing some impact on recruiting. Some Buckeye targets are now admitting they are paying attention to what is going on.

By: AP via ESPN.com -- WASHINGTON -- The Justice Department wants to know why the NCAA doesn't have a college football playoff system and says there are "serious questions" about whether the current format to determine a national champion complies with antitrust laws.
Critics who have urged the department to investigate the Bowl Championship Series contend it unfairly gives some schools preferential access to the title championship game and top-tier end-of-season bowls.
