By sinking four baskets in less than 30 seconds, he won one year of tuition-free education. Hylander, a first-year in athletic training, hit a layup, a free throw, a 3-pointer and a half-court shot. By: John Cupps (BuckeyeCountry.net) -- Does beating a MAC team garner more ranking points that defeating a Big Ten opponent? By: Doug Lesmerises (Cleveland Plain Dealer) -- Columbus -- When 13 years later you remember and regret the shutouts that should have been as much as the ones that happened, you were part of a great defense. Though Ohio State's 1996 defense did shut out three opponents in 12 games, former linebacker Greg Bellisari recalls the one that got away, a 38-7 win over Penn State when the Nittany Lions were dominated before scoring on Ohio State's second team in the fourth quarter. "A ... Read More

USC-OSU: Are Buckeye Fans Growing Tired of “Tressel-Ball?”

Categories: BUCKEYE COUNTRY, FANS, FOOTBALL

By: Jux Berg (BleacherReport.com) -- To put it simply, "Tressel-Ball" is a cautious, close-to-the-vest style of coaching football. Minimize risks. Attempt to control field position. Use old-fashioned methods on short-yardage situations. And, unfortunately for the Buckeyes of late when battling top 10 teams, Tressel-Ball equals losses. Even with a talented, hard-nosed defense, failing to take advantage of scoring opportunities can and will come back to haunt. (Admittedly a lifelong Buckeye fan, I am writing this article from an objective standpoint.) Last night, Pete Carroll came to Ohio ... Read More
