By: AP via greenfieldreporter.com -- NEW ORLEANS — The season was spiraling away, the players didn't seem to care and Thad Matta had had enough.
So, as he watched his team stumble lackadaisically through practice on the eve of a big game, the Ohio State coach snapped. Stop, day's over, head home, he told them.
Not so fast, coach.
Led by William Buford, the team's lone senior, the Buckeyes pushed back, decided to finish practice on their own.
"I didn't let us leave," Buford said Thursday. ... Read More

BOSTON – On paper, it's a huge advantage for Syracuse.
The Orange have been touted as one of the deepest teams in the country all season, with a host of scoring options. On the other hand, Ohio State hasn't relied much on its bench this season, and has basically been a four-man team of Jared Sullinger, William Buford, Aaron Craft and DeShaun Thomas.
If the Sweet 16 win over Cincinnati is any indication, though, Ohio State's supporting cast will play a major ... Read More

Sullinger and the Ohio State
Buckeyes had blown a 12-point lead and fallen behind Cincinnati in the
second half of the East Region semifinals.
It was time for the "cool guys" to take a seat, and let the blue-collar
team take over.
Sullinger scored 23 points with 11 rebounds and Ohio State turned back
Cincinnati's last charge with a 17-1 run to beat the Bearcats 81-66 on Thursday
night and advance to the NCAA regional finals for the first time since 2007.............

From: montgomeryadvertiser.com -- COLUMBUS -- Don't look for Thad Matta to invoke the honor of Jerry Lucas and John Havlicek. He won't be bringing up Fred Taylor or Mel Nowell, either.
As far as the Ohio State coach is concerned, the back-to-back national championship losses to Cincinnati in 1961 and '62 are history.
"I wasn't even born. I was born six years afterward, so I don't think those guys are that tuned into it," Matta said of today's ... Read More

By Timothy Rapp (BleacherReport.com) -- There are a lot of reasons why the Big Ten and Big East are the best conferences in college basketball this season.
The latest indication?
Combined, the two conferences represent exactly half of the teams in the Sweet 16, with four schools each still standing in NCAA tournament play.
It's not just that, of course—it's which teams are still standing that tell us something about the strength of each conference.
The remaining Big Ten schools (Michigan State, Ohio ... Read More

By: AP via FoxSports.com -- COLUMBUS, Ohio - Draymond Green grabbed a mop in the final minute and helped sweep sweat off the floor.

By Doug Lesmerises (The Plain Dealer) -- INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Under the basket as the shot went up from the corner, Ohio State's Deshaun Thomas slid out in front of the rim, tapped the rebound, tapped it again, grabbed it and put it back in for a six-point Ohio State lead with just over six minutes to play Friday night.

By: Josh Martin (BleacherReport.com) -- Who's No. 1?
It's a simple question, really, one that the college basketball universe has been asking of the Big Ten all season.
And one that Ohio State finally appears prepared to answer in the affirmative this week. The Buckeyes claimed a share of the conference's regular-season title by way of a 72-70 victory over Michigan State in East Lansing on Sunday, sharing the honor with the Spartans and arch rival Michigan at 13-5 ...
