It appears as if everyone's question is finally answered. Ohio State and Michigan will split into separate divisions. OSU's student newspaper, The Lantern, is reporting the split but notes that both teams will still play each other in the final week of the regular season after the Big Ten expands to 12 teams. OSU athletic director Gene Smith told The Lantern shortly before an announcement show Wednesday night on the Big Ten Network.

Ohio State, Michigan, Oregon, and Penn State.
These were four of the most powerful football schools in the country. They were four schools that even the most jaded and big headed high school recruits would be honored to receive a scholarship offer from.
Their lofty stature seemed irrelevant, however, when it came to the anticipation they all had for the decision of one young Pennsylvania teenager. They all sat with bated breath waiting for ... Read More

From: SportingNews.com -- Michigan athletic director Dave Brandon said fans clamoring for Michigan and Ohio State to be placed in the same division in 2011—and keep the traditional season-ending spot on the schedule—might not be focusing on the big picture.
"I do believe that one of the things people have lost track of in all of the noise is that if Michigan and Ohio State are in the same division, Michigan and Ohio State will never again play for the Big Ten championship—we ... Read More

For years, we heard that Michigan and Ohio State never would regularly play The Game after Thanksgiving. That will change this fall.
When the Big Ten added Nebraska in June and a divisional split seemed imminent, most folks (including me) thought there was little chance the Wolverines and the Buckeyes would end up on opposite sides of the league. This, too, has changed as we anxiously wait the division pairings to be announced.

Not in their play, but in the 1940s throwback uniforms they wore for the big game.
Expect to see a different brand of Buckeyes again this year when Michigan pays a visit to the Horseshoe in Columbus, Ohio.

The media predicted Ohio State will notch its sixth consecutive Big Ten title when they ranked the Buckeyes No. 1 in the conference preseason poll at the annual Big Ten meetings in Chicago on Monday.
Along with choosing OSU as the team to beat, the media tabbed Buckeye quarterback Terrelle Pryor as the Preseason Offensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. The junior led OSU to a 26-17 Rose Bowl victory over Oregon, a game in which he ... Read More

SATIRE — Maybe it's the years of winning, maybe it's the lack of a MLB or an NFL franchise in C-bus, whatever it may be, there's certainly a fever amongst Buckeye football fans that surpasses the norm. Just ask my fiance'. The added sports package on cable, the hat collection, the jersey's, the stone outside the door that reads 'Buckeye Country', the bickering over wedding dates because they conflict with certain Ohio ... For a few months in the winter, Terrelle Pryor was not the big man on campus, even after leading Ohio State to a win in the Rose Bowl. That’s because Evan Turner was captivating the college basketball world with his all-around excellence and his amazing comeback from a scary back injury, so much so that he raked in all conceivable recognition as the National Player of the Year.
In the process, he also won ... Read More

Nebraska's in. So where do the Cornhuskers fit?
Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany said there were three factors that would determine how the 12-team conference breaks into two six-team divisions for the 2011 season. He's got people working on it. Here's a suggestion, following the three Delany factors: competitive balance, rivalries and geography.
Here's my reasoning:
1. Competitive balance is the first factor, so split the four programs that have been clearly above the ... Read More

Expansion fever seems to finally be finding its footing, as Nebraska will in all likelihood find a home in the Big Ten.
With the Huskers being one of possibly a handful of teams about to join the Big Ten Conference, one thing that is being largely overlooked is the effect this process has on the rivalries in the conference.
The most specific of these might be the greatest rivalry in college football if not sports: Ohio ... Read More
