OSU's student newspaper, The Lantern, is reporting the split but notes that both teams will still play each other in the final week of the regular season after the Big Ten expands to 12 teams. OSU athletic director Gene Smith told The Lantern shortly before an announcement show Wednesday night on the Big Ten Network.

A team usually knows when everything has come together. The stars line up, as the adage goes.
But it’s a tricky proposition in college football, a team needing the perfect blend of experience and talent to have everything lined up to challenge for a national championship.
On March 19, 2008, when quarterback Terrelle Pryor opted for the cap sporting the giant, red “O,” the Buckeyes envisioned his junior season as that defining peak of opportunity.

he Marshall Thundering Herd enter the 2010 season fresh off its first bowl victory since 2002. The Herd capped off a 7-6 season with a 21-17 victory over Ohio University in the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl.
The bowl bid wasn’t enough to save head coach Mark Snyder, a former Ohio State assistant, though, as the embattled coach resigned in November following the regular season.

HUNTINGTON - None of the current Marshall players or coaches were around for the sunny Saturday in September 2004 when the Thundering Herd made Ohio State sidestep a major upset on national television.
But as they prepare to open the Doc Holliday era Thursday, they will try to match that effort, maybe exceed it and shock the nation. Whatever the case, the Herd travels to Columbus to take on the No. 2-ranked Buckeyes at ... Read More

By: MATT MARKEY (Toledo Blade) -- COLUMBUS - For any commander, those guys guarding the perimeter are critically important to the entire operation. They are the sentries out on the frontier, essentially alone on an island.
In football, that's the cornerbacks. They are the one man to beat for offenses attempting to strike quickly and take the least-impeded route to the end zone.
Ohio State coach Jim Tressel has put his trust in seniors Chimdi Chekwa and Devon Torrence to protect the outer limits ... Read More

From: SportingNews.com -- Michigan athletic director Dave Brandon said fans clamoring for Michigan and Ohio State to be placed in the same division in 2011—and keep the traditional season-ending spot on the schedule—might not be focusing on the big picture.

BOULDER — When it comes to intersectional match-ups on the football field, Colorado and Ohio State are often in a league of their own. So it makes perfect sense that two will resume their brief but eventful series next year in Columbus.
The Buffaloes will travel to Ohio Stadium on Sept. 24, 2011, to play the host Buckeyes; the facility is the fourth largest in the country with a seating capacity of 102,329. It ... Read More

For years, we heard that Michigan and Ohio State never would regularly play The Game after Thanksgiving. That will change this fall.
When the Big Ten added Nebraska in June and a divisional split seemed imminent, most folks (including me) thought there was little chance the Wolverines and the Buckeyes would end up on opposite sides of the league. This, too, has changed as we anxiously wait the division pairings to be announced.
