By Kyle Meinke (annarbor.com) --Remember when Brady Hoke was last summer's recruiting darling?
That is fading into a distant memory, thanks to the Big Ten's newest coach.
Urban Meyer was hired at Ohio State three weeks ago, and began his tenure with such a recruiting flurry that the Buckeyes' class shot up to No. 5 in the nation this week, according to Scout.
Texas remains No. 1 overall and Michigan is holding steady at No. 2 on the strength of Hoke's hot summer, which ... Read More

By: AP via newsok.com -- WASHINGTON — Proponents of a college football playoff are launching a new national campaign aimed at taking down the BCS.
The "We Want a Playoff Now" campaign was introduced Thursday on Capitol Hill. It includes the lobbying firm The Moffett Group, headed up by former Rep. Toby Moffett, D-Conn., and the communications firm, New Partners.
Along with that effort, two congressmen are forming the Congressional Collegiate Sports Caucus. The congressmen, Texas Republican Joe Barton and Tennessee Democrat Steve Cohen, ... Read More

It is hard to determine exactly what Urban Meyer will be paid to coach Ohio State's football team for the next six years. But if he is still on the job when the original contract he agreed to last week expires on January 31, 2018, my best guess is it will be a minimum of $27 million.
The maximum? That's anybody's guess. Add in the academic bonuses, the checks OSU will cut in the ... Read More

By: Darren Everson (WSJ.com) -- Vacating games sounds like such an empty penalty. In Ohio State's case, though, it actually would have some statistical meaning.
If the NCAA orders Ohio State to vacate victories from the 2010 season because of the Jim Tressel scandal—a strong possibility—it not only would cost the Buckeyes their share of the Big Ten title, it also would alter college football's all-time standings quite a bit. Currently third in winning percentage, Ohio State would drop ... Read More

LITTLE ROCK — Cam Newton, the man in Vegas said, is what Terrelle Pryor was supposed to be.
He meant that Pryor had not lived up to advance billing as an unstoppable dual threat quarterback who was to put Ohio State on his shoulders and deliver the Buckeyes to the mountaintop.
Labeling Pryor a disappointment requires that the one passing judgment ignore Ohio State’s 31-5 record and three straight BCS bowl games, including the Jan. 4 ... Read More
